How do I register for classes?

By filling out our registration form! If you're interested but not ready to register, you can fill out our contact form and we'll answer any questions you have.

We accept class registrations until Thursday at 2:00pm, as this is when class planning for the following week happen. You are welcome to sign up after that, but you will need to come in Monday morning at 8am to do a leveling test and we will not be able to guarantee a spot in classes in this case.

How much do classes cost?

Where is the location of Colombia Immersion?

We have two locations, one in Envigado and one in Laureles.

In the south of Medellín is our Envigado school, about 20 minutes by bus to Poblado and 20 minutes on the metro to downtown. It's a good balance between close to everything and out of the tourist zone.

Our Laureles school is a 10 minute walk from the La Floresta metro station on a residential street. It's about 15 minutes walking from the popular "La Setenta" nightlife area and has plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to do nearby.

In both schools, you can live in a very Colombian neighborhood filled with cultural events and (cheap and delicious!) local eateries, while also being a bus or metro ride away from the party in Poblado or to museums, universities, and nightlife. Does the school offer a place to stay?

Yes, we offer hostel-style housing, private rooms with local hosts, and private rooms in shared apartments with other students. You can find pictures, pricing, and an overview on our stay page.

Due to high demand, in order to book a HOMESTAY, the first week must be paid in advance (300.000COP). So, if the first week of the homestay has not been paid, it has not been booked. You can book the homestay via PayPal, credit card, or in cash.

I don't know my level of Spanish. Can you help me?

Absolutely! After you register, we will put you through a leveling test before you get started to get you in the right class. After your first day of class we evaluate whether it is a good fit and will adjust as needed.

What happens if there are too few or too many people at the same level in any given week?

Our group classes start at 2 students and cap out at 6 students. If there are too many people in a class, we split the class into two smaller groups. If there is nobody else in the class you have signed up for,  we offer students private lessons of equivalent value. Please see our Policies Page for all details.

Do you recommend group lessons or private lessons?

We recommend, for most students, to start with group classes. Both options are going to give you the chance to interact and speak, as group classes are no more than 6 students. Group classes have the added benefit of having other students at your level to practice with and learn from. Ultimately it’s really a personal choice about how personalized your needs are and how much you enjoy the social aspect of group classes.

When do classes start?

Every Monday at 9:00am we start new classes (though if you are signed up for an afternoon class you'd start at 2pm).

The only exception is when there are Festivo (national holiday) days, in which case we start classes on Tuesday.  On festivos we have educational field trips for you to practice your Spanish out in real life. Find our full festivo policy on our Policies Page.

Do you offer classes during the holidays?

We are open during Christmas holidays December 24th through January 1st but not on Christmas Day or New Years Day.

During festivos, which are national holidays in Colombia, we do not hold regular classes. On weeks with a festivo, there is a discounted price for the shortened week.

There are 17 national holidays throughout the year, which means that most months have a festivo in them. Therefore, we've included in the Full Immersion Program price a discount of one day of festivo to reflect this.

How does payment work?

Payment is done in person on Tuesday --your second day-- before you start your classes. We accept credit card, but also PayPal and cash.

If you want to extend your classes, you'll need to let us know by the Thursday before your last day of class. Find our full payment policy on our Terms and Conditions Page

Are there discounts?

We offer a 10% discount for:

  • *any booking of 4 weeks or more of classes (when they're 4 weeks in a row)
  •  booking of 4 weeks or more of a homestay
  • *20 hours or more booked of private classes.

These only apply if you're paying in advance, and do not apply for the Full Immersion Program (which has the discount built into the price).
